WibTeX is a small, and easy-to-use database application that allows you to manage your references to books, articles and other texts. Other media such as music CD's, DVD's etc. are supported, too, but WibTeX's strength ist professional assistance to academics who must cite frequently and who want to organize their citations properly.
A main feature of WibTeX is the interface to Microsoft Word (TM), OpenOffice and LyX / BibTeX, a TeX package by Oren Patashnik. TeX is a professional and free document preparation system. Many books and especially scientific texts are set in TeX.
Moreover, WibTeX can be used to fully catalog collections of books and small libraries. USB barcode scanners are supported. The program can be configured to automatically download information and cover pictures from the internet, given ISBN or EAN numbers.
BibTeX permits to cite from a central database file and has many formatting features. This way references once typed are available in all new documents, and the table of references can be generated. |
