Open and save databank files

Normally, you will not need this function since you can store and exchange data via the import / export functions.

However, if you want to use, for example, the same database over a local network, then you may wish to store the database file (per default this is “wibtex.wtx”) on a central server that is accessible to several workstations. To do this, you must then tell WibTeX where you put the database, using the File Menu command “Open database”.

You can save the current database under another name and open WibTeX databases (*.wtx). Make sure not to open any file that has not been created by WibTeX previously. The last file used will be the one that WibTeX opens next time you start the application.

Database

Remove all records

This comes in handy when you have saved your database in a new file and want to start a new project. Or you want to import a BibTeX file and not mess up the new records with the old ones.

Remove all doubles

Note that there may be doubles when importing data from BibTeX files. This would lead to errors because the keys must be unequivocal. I solved the problem by adding the label „DOUBLE“ plus a number to record keys that already exist in the database. This way you can easily identify these records in the list view and change their key in the edit window if you like. Alternatively, they may be deleted one by one or all together.

Show total value of purchased literature

In the single view window, you may click on the tab sheet “More”. There you can enter the price and date of purchase of new pieces of literature. The function “Total value of purchased literature” (via button displaying a calculator or via the menu) permits to display the sum of such entries in the database.

Language

In this menu, you can select the program language. English, German, French, and Spanish are available.
